What does the New Year mean to you? Maybe, it means the club will be extra busy. Maybe you still have planned social activities like parties with friends and family. I know, I do. The days are shorter and it seems there is more to do. How do we find balance in these stressful times?
Personally, I am making the time. With my family, that means meaningful conversations – listening more and talking less. I am asking follow up questions. I am actively working on staying present and in the moment. I am spending less time looking at screens and more time taking in my surroundings. I am trying to be more attentive to the people in my life.
Yet, during this “season of giving” it is still important to carve out time for self care. How are you planning on taking time for yourself. What are you doing to focus on you? What personal goals will you try to achieve in 2019? Are you giving your body the attention it needs to function properly?
We all know that diet and exercise is important, but that’s only one piece of the puzzle. Taking care of your physical body has a direct impact on your mental health as well. When you exercise, you alleviate stress and boost endorphins. This directly affects your mood and impacts the people around you.
At LCRAC, a team of experienced trainers, coaches and instructors can help you feel supported, balanced, and focused when life is busy and time is short. We are here to support you and encourage you both physically and mentally. That’s why we came up with the helpful list below.
Here are 7 tips to feel balanced this holiday season when you’re not at the club:
- Read a new book
- Call a family member or friend you haven’t talked with in awhile
- Get outside 3x/week for 20 minutes
- Try something new
- Take a nap or strive for a much needed 8 hours at night
- Start a meditation practice. The headspace app is a good place to start
- Journal your thoughts
From all of us at Lake Country Racquet & Athletic Club, Happy 2019! Cheers to You and Yours!
